Holistic Science Master Trainer Programme

HOLISTIC SCIENCE MASTER TRAINER –  BECOME A FORCE MULTIPLIER OF SCIENCE EDUCATION REFORM

The Master Trainer Certification is designed to take your own practice and expertise to the next level, empowering you to independently conduct impactful Holistic Science training and elevate your professional development. This will equip teachers to deliver highly impactful holistic science teaching workshops in schools. A 2-IN-1 certification opportunity.
What is Holistic Science Teaching?
The Holistic Science Teaching (HSTF) MOOC brings history, ethics, philosophy, culture, and real-world cases into the heart of science education. It equips teachers with practical tools, planning strategies, and frameworks that help them connect scientific ideas across disciplines and show students that science is part of a living human story.

Becoming a Master Trainer is a Serious Commitment.
It requires considerable engagement of the teacher – and her institution – over 6-8 months. In particular, the teacher goes through 4 taught modules (5 to 1 day each) followed by practice (learning-by-doing) and planning. These modules are:
– Module 1: Holistic Science Teaching Fellowship – 4+1 Days (Mode: Online/Synchronous) followed by 1-2 months of compressed Classroom Practice.
– Module 2: World Bank’s Teach Certification – 3+1 Days (Mode: Online/Synchronous) followed by 2 months of Observation Practice.
– Module 3: World Bank’s Coach Training – 1 Day Training (Mode: Online/Synchronous) + Practice Feedback Sessions (10 Sessions)
– Module 4: Planning and Designing a Holistic Workshop – 1 Day (Mode: Online/Synchronous) + the Submission of a Workshop Plan.
In the end, the Master Trainer gets 2 Certifications – World Bank Teach Observer Certified by a World Bank Master Trainer AND Holistic Science Master Trainer certified by WSCL/HSTFW.

Who is this Course for?
K–12 science teachers (especially 6-12 Grades) who have done the Holistic Science Teaching Fellowship and enjoy teaching holistically and are now looking to multiply their impact from a single classroom to the whole school (or system).
Senior Science Teachers or Science Subject Leads who are responsible for training other science teachers, or organising TPD in their respective schools.
Other pedagogy enthusiasts, trainers, and edtech leads responsible for training teachers.

Application Deadline & Course Dates:
You must register by Jun 20, 2026.
Tentative dates for the Master Trainer Programme are:
Module 1: Holistic Science Teaching Fellowship: July 3-4, 10-11, and 25, 2026
Module 2: World Bank Teach Certification: July 28-31, 2026
Module 3: World Bank Coach Training: August 2026 (TBD)
Module 4: Organising a Holistic Science Workshop: Nov 2026 (TBD)
All submissions, etc. have to be completed by Dec 15, 2026.
Teachers must also deliver a Holistic Science Workshop in their schools within 6-8 months of completion of their programme and will be supported and observed.

PROGRAMME FEE and TERMS & CONDITIONS:
1. Master Trainer Programme fee is US$ 300 / PKR 90,000 for 6-8 months of work and subsequent support to deliver a workshop.
2. The role of the Master Trainer is to train teachers at his/her institution AND to be a leader, a mentor, and a coach to Teachers trained directly via the Holistic Science MOOC. The Master Trainers are an important part of the core capacity that drives Holistic Science Teaching forward.
3. Because of the necessity to deliver a workshop in his/her school, school leadership’s buy-in is critical and, therefore, school’s nomination is compulsory to attend the Master Trainer Certification. School’s full (or partial) sponsorship of the programme fee is also strongly recommended.
4. Learning a new pedagogy like it is the back of one’s hand is not an easy task. Becoming a Master Trainer requires considerable time commitment – approximately 15-20% of their total work time over 6-8 months and we expect this time to be protected by the school leadership.

Past Workshops

The Beginning at LUMS
Our first-ever Holistic Science Teaching workshop took place at LUMS University in 2022. It was a four-day residential program, followed by an additional one-day session after a month. We received an overwhelming response from teachers and participants. This inaugural workshop primarily engaged middle school science teachers (Grades 6–8), setting the foundation for our holistic and interdisciplinary approach to science education.

1- Expanding Access Through Online Learning

In 2023, we transitioned to a fully online format, allowing us to bring together a diverse cohort of teachers, from elite private schools to grassroots NGOs. This online model enabled us to expand our cohort size significantly and make participation more flexible through weekend sessions. The shift helped us refine our pedagogy and community-building strategies for virtual learning environments.

2-International Workshop in Indonesia

Later in 2023, we hosted an in-person training in Indonesia, marking our first international workshop. Teachers from varied {error.db.status.update}educational and cultural backgrounds participated, reflecting our growing global community. The program concluded with a fellowship phase, reinforcing long-term engagement and application of holistic science teaching practices.

1-Workshop at Aga Khan University ( Integrating AI and Advancing Master Trainers)

In 2024, we organized a workshop at Aga Khan University (AKU), Karachi, where we introduced a new session on Artificial Intelligence (AI), exploring how AI can be leveraged to enhance holistic and interdisciplinary science teaching. During this period, we also launched our Master Trainer Certification Program, empowering experienced fellows to mentor new cohorts and lead local training initiatives.
